Gaylord Ed Lohrer

Gaylord Ed Lohrer, age 86, of Grayling passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023.

Gaylord was born to Edward and Mildred Lohrer on May 13, 1937 in St. Johns, MI. He met his wife Maurita Westra and married her on August 12, 1974. Together they raised a wonderful family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Detroit Tigers games, NASCAR racing, mud racing and anything else car related. Gaylord would take his boys hunting the week of Thanksgiving but was always home for Thanksgiving dinner for everyone to be together. He also loved to go camping and snowmobiling.

Gaylord is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maurita Lohrer; children Douglas (Judy) Lohrer, David Lohrer, Ron (Lynn) Lohrer and Dixie (Justin) Smith; grandchildren Dusty (Michelle), Travis (Josiah), Heather (Matt), Derrick, Storm, and Elizabeth; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathleen Olson; and several nieces and nephews.

Gaylord is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mildred and his brothers-in-law Charles and Ken.

Visitation will take place August 14, 2023, from 11:00 am until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home.
