Yoko Eri Puls

Yoko Eri Puls, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Grayling, MI on January 15, 2021, at the age of 74. Born in Nagasaki, Japan to Gensaku and Seno (Seguchi) Eri, Yoko met the love of her life and married her husband Thomas on January 28, 1974 in Tokyo, Japan.

Those that knew Yoko witnessed her amazing sense of humor, appreciated her free-spirit, and felt the love she displayed toward everyone that crossed her path. Yoko genuinely cared for those around her—considering everyone she came into contact with as part of her extended family. She was famous for her sushi, fried rice and gyoza’s she’d make for anyone who was willing to eat.

Yoko was a person of faith and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Grayling, MI since 1987.

Yoko is survived by her husband Thomas Puls, children Patty (Andy) Valitchka and Jason Puls; granddaughters, Alexis Valitchka and Kendall Valitchka; several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Japan. She is preceded in death by her parents Gensaku and Seno Eri, and sister, Kazu Murata.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation before starting at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Grayling, MI in the spring 2021.
