William T. Moore

William T. Moore passed away peacefully at home October 22, 2015, with family at his bedside. He was born in Port Huron Michigan August 26, 1921. He attended school in Grosse Point and later worked as a hydraulic apprentice at the Henry Ford Rouge Plant. Bill joined the Coast Guard and served three years during WW II, onboard ship in the North Atlantic. He married Ruth E. Burrows from Grayling in 1944. After the war he went to school at Michigan Technological University and earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. The majority of his career was with Kaiser Aluminum. They returned to Grayling to retire and build a house on Lake Margrethe, where he and his wife enjoyed many years and good friends. They were members of Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed golfing and built two wooden sailboats, and monitored the lake quality from his pontoon boat. He is survived by his brother Allan Moore in Flint, Mi. daughter Leslie Moore from Cleveland, Ohio, son Jamie Moore in Corvallis, Oregon, grandchildren Heather and Kimberly Christensen, Sean, Alana, and Michael Moore, and great grandson Landon Wilson. He was preceded in death by siblings Raymond and Marie, his wife Ruth, and children Sara E. and William A. A memorial service will be planned for early summer.
