William Clifford Monks

William Clifford Monks, Jr., 71, of Grayling passed away on Thursday February 23, 2012. He was born in Detroit on September 3, 1940 to the late William and Helen (Tomory) Monks, Sr. He married the former Diane Galligan on August 8, 1969 in Monroe, MI. They were married for 37 years before she preceded him in death in 2006. He served in the US Army and was retired from the National Guard. He was a member of American Legion and the Kalkaska Eagles. He was retired from the State of Michigan where he had been a corrections officer. William loved his kids, was passionate about Red Wings Hockey, Fishing, Hunting, Golf, NASCAR. He enjoyed his friends and "Happy Hour". Survived by daughters: Arlene (Bill) James of Kansas and Nicole (Bob) Adams of Madison Heights. Granddaughter Sarah and great grandson Brantley. Memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday March 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 106. Condolences may be sent to www.sorensonlockwood.com.
