William James Gallagher, 85, of Lovells Township passed away on Friday April 13, 2012. William was born in Columbiaville, Michigan on November 4, 1926, to the late William and Mabel Gallagher. He married the former Shirley Groezinger on November 5, 1949 in Rhode Island. He retired from the US Navy as an airplane mechanic in 1965. He later retired from Jack Milliken Excavating. William was a life member of VFW, American Legion, and Fleet Reserve Association. Survived by wife Shirley Faye of 62 years. Daughters: Ivajoan Legg of Traverse City and Marcia (Ted) Roehrich of Traverse City. Grandchildren: Jason Rutter, Brian (Tracy) Legg, and Teresa (Matthew) Gerkin Great grandchildren: Abigail and Brett Gerkin. Brothers: Gordon Gallagher of Flint and Thomas Gallagher of Washington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lovells Community Chapel.
