Wendy L. Weiss Weaver Weitz

3.25.1956 - 2.17.2025

Wendy Weitz, 68, of Eagle River, Alaska passed away at home on February 17, 2025. She was born on March 25, 1956, in Grayling, MI and spent her life bringing love and kindness to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Michael Weitz and two daughters Emily Weaver and Ally Weitz.

Wendy grew up in Grayling and graduated from Grayling High School in 1974. She later attended Kirtland Community College receiving an associates degree in Computer Science. One of her fondest places in Grayling was staying with her Aunt Berta Sawyer at her house on the Ausable River. Wendy moved to Alaska in 1980.

Wendy was known for her boundless positivity and selfless generosity. She had a gentle soul and a special way to make everyone feel seen and loved. Her kindness knew no limits and her nurturing spirit made every moment spent with her feel like home. She made strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. She had a heart big enough to fit everyone she loved (and probably a few stray animals she "accidentally" adopted along the way).

One of her greatest joys was exploring the roads of Alaska with her two daughters, Emily and Ally. Whether it was a drive along Turnagain Arm, a berry picking excursion to secret locations, or an impromptu visit to a scenic overlook on the way to Seward or Hatcher Pass, Wendy embraced the adventure of the open road. These weekly road trips were not just about the destination but rather about the time spent together, the stories shared, and the quiet moments of appreciation for the world around her.

She taught those close to her to love passionately without expectation or inhibitions, and to feel that love deeply and with their whole hearts. She also taught those around her how to care for one another, to find beauty in the small moments, and to hold close to the people who matter most.

She dedicated her life to her family and friends, always putting others before herself. Whether it was through a warm meal, a kind word, or a comforting hug, she made sure everyone felt loved and valued. If you ever left her house hungry, that was your own fault, because she was convinced that food and a little humor could solve most of life's problems - and she wasn't entirely wrong. She had a passion for wildlife, gardening, beachcombing, healing (therapeutic) touch, and instilled in her daughters her love for music, adventure, animals, photography, and so much more.

In recent years, Wendy lived with breast cancer, carrying herself with the same quiet strength and warmth that defined her life. Even in difficult times, she remained a source of love, laughter, and comfort to those around her. She will be remembered not for her illness, but for the love she gave and the beautiful moments she created. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will continue to shine in the lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth, love, and sense of adventure will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She will be forever in our hearts.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 13th at 4pm at St. Patrick's Parish in Anchorage, Alaska with a reception to follow. There will be a livestream available for those unable to attend through St. Patrick's facebook page.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible care team of nurses, doctors, and staff at Katmai Oncology. They are forever grateful for the patience, dedication, and compassionate care that was provided for Wendy throughout the years.

As her family navigates this difficult time, if you would like to assist with medical costs and funeral expenses, donations can be made through her daughter Emily Weaver.
