Wayne "Fred" Fredrick Moore

Wayne "Fred" Fredrick Moore, 82 of Grayling Mi passed away peacefully at home Friday July 2, 2021.

Fred was born January 21, 1939 to Wayne and Helen (Madar) Moore in Alma.  He graduated from Alma High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the  Navy. On June 25, 1960, Fred married Nancy Curtiss.  Fred and Nancy moved their family to Grayling in 1977.  For 27 years Fred owned Moore's Automotive (NAPA), before retiring in 2004 when his son Andy bought the family business.

Fred was a long time Grayling Country Club member, stockholder and board member.  He enjoyed golfing with his friends and kids.  Fred was also a proud member of the Grayling Rotary Club and was Treasurer for many years.   Fred was very proud of being named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Grayling Rotary Club, the highest recognition a Rotarian can receive from his fellow club members.

Besides golfing in his spare time, Fred really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids as they played with his collection of model trains.  They would spend hours in the basement working on the train layout and watching the trains go around.  Along with his love of trains, Fred enjoyed spending time with his family at the Soo Locks watching the freighters.

Fred is survived by his children, Wayne F. Moore, Jr. (Momilani) of Waianae, Hawaii; Patrick C. Moore (Lianne) of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; Timothy J. Moore of Alma MI; Michelle M. Moore of Grayling MI; and Andrew D. Moore (Stacy) of Grayling, MI.  Nine Grandchildren: Hope, Grace, Timothy II, Brennan, Nikolas, Katelyn, Andrew II, Alexander and Mathieu. Brothers Jim and John; Sisters Joann and Elaine.  Fred was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Clara (Curtiss) and infant daughter Susan Elizabeth Moore.

Visitation will be at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home, Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10 am, with Father Jerry Hunko officiating, followed by a Graveside Service with Military Honors at Elmwood Cemetery.
