Vernon Leon LaDuke

Vernon Leon LaDuke, Jr., 82, of Grayling, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2021.

He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on April 25, 1939 to the late Vernon and Roselynn (Coulter) LaDuke. Vernon married Cheryl Bosbous on April 23,1966 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. They were best friends, soul mates, and inseparable. Cheryl was the love of his life and they shared a true love story that only strengthened with each passing year.

He loved his country and served in the US Army; he was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Vern was employed for 35 years by the State of Michigan Highway Department and Department of Natural Resources. Vernon was a kind, generous man with a quick and keen sense of humor. He loved watching his children, and later his grandchildren participate in school and sporting activities. Just being in their presence brought him joy. He will be remembered always as a thoughtful, loving, generous, caring, soft spoken, sentimental, yet strong man. Vern made it his mission to help others and there was nothing he couldn't repair or refurbish. He was a great woodworker, craftsman, and all-around Mr. Fix It.

Survived by his wife Cheryl of 55 years. Children: Daniel (Christa) LaDuke and Jannice (Frederick "Fritz") Lamm. Grandsons: Samuel LaDuke and Benjamin and Jake Lamm. Granddaughters: Rachel and Alexandra Irwin, and Brittany (Nick) Saucedo and sons Kason and Gannon
Sister: Djarlene Monet of Sarasota, Florida.

Vernon was blessed with an extended family of both brother in-laws and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon following the service.
