Vern C. Fox

Vern C. Fox, 85, of Grayling, MI., passed away with peace and grace on July 24, 2015, with his family at his side. Vern is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce (Saunders) Fox. Son: Gary (Denae) Fox of Grayling Daughters: Debra (Steven) Walker of Gaylord KayLynn (F. James) Stewart of Charlevoix Grandchildren: Stacy Lynn Walker of Gaylord, Emily (Sam) Henson of Belfield, N.D., Wesley (Amber) Fox of Culbertson, MT, Dylan (Christine) Stewart of Baltimore, MD.and 7 great grandchildren. Sister: Nellie (Lawrence) Ihrke of Mayville and sister in law, Janet (Harley) Pattullo of Deckerville and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a son, Randy Vern, in 1957; parents, George and Leota Fox of Mayville; sister, Jean McCrory of Fostoria; and his mother and father in law Hersey and Gildreth Saunders. Vern was born in Mayville, Michigan, worked as a farmer in his youth and retired from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources after 33 years, the majority of his career caring and helping to protect the beautiful AuSable River. Vern was devoted to his family and passed on his passion of fishing and gardening to his children. Vern and Joyce have spent many winter seasons in Florida, where both enjoyed so many dear friends, various activities in their community, and long walks and bike rides in the evenings warm breezes.
