Steven Allen Persing, 55, of Grayling, died October 30, 2010 with courage and integrity. He fought an eight and a half year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at Munson Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born on March 9, 1955, in Jackson, Michigan to Mabel Alva (Zimmerman) and Richard Lee Persing. He moved to Grayling in 1964, where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He went on to become a water well driller, a profession which he loved. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and sports that he shared with close friends. He and his family also enjoyed attending racing events and especially the Drive-In movies. He touched the lives of many people. He was always willing to help fiends and strangers in any way he could. Even after his disability, he was able to fix almost anything. He will ever be remembered by his wife, Nancy; Children: Nicole ( and Justin) and Eric; Very treasured grandson, Nate; Mother: Mabel Persing Siblings: Dick and LeeAnn; and family who are blessed to have known him. He was preceded in death by his father and younger brother, Dave. He left a legacy of strength, uncompromising character and integrity and will be sadly missed by a ll who cared about him. Friends and family are invited to share an informal celebration of his life on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church.
