Shirley Bendig

Shirley Mae Bendig, 80, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2015. Shirley was born September 26, 1934 in Pontiac, MI to Joseph and Maude Bildstein. Shirley was a R.N., graduating from Mercy College of Nursing in Detroit. She worked in many settings in her career to include, Dr. Henig's office,Community Mental Health Department, hospice, and home care. She also worked at Davis Jewelers, Mainstreet Floral, and Crawford County Commission on Aging. Shirley was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, served in various leadership roles, and was a willing servant and friend to many. She also enjoyed golfing and gardening. Survived by her children: David (Marie) Bendig of Roscommon, Michael (Edna) Bendig of Indiana, and Heidi (Douglas MacKinnon) Dennis of Grayling; Grandchildren: Heather, Melissa, Robbie, Leigh Ann, Brian, D.J., Kayla, and Brady; 5 Great grandchildren and a sister: Josephine Riharb of Arizona. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sorensonlockwood.com.
