Sally Ann Swenson Sally Ann Swenson, 82, of Grayling passed away on April 15, 2009. She was born in Hazel Park on December 19, 1926 to the late Clare and Ann Farrington. She graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1945 and later received a Legal Secretary Certificate from the Detroit Business College. She worked as a legal secretary in downtown Detroit at the Fisher Building and later in the greater Detroit area, retiring in 1970. She married the late William L. Swenson of Hazel Park on July 24, 1948. For the next 30 years she lived in Hazel Park until Bill's retirement, after which they moved to St. Helen, Michigan. Sally then married Leonard "Len" Palutis of Mio on May 20, 2005 in West Branch where they had met while bowling in the Senior Bowling Leagues. She enjoyed a lifetime of involvement in two fraternal organizations. In the Houghton Lake White Shrine of Jerusalem #61 she served as a Worthy Scribe and also was a Past Worthy High Priestess. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, attending Hazel Park Chapter #486, Roscommon Chapter #50, and Grayling Chapter #83, holding many offices and was also a Past Worthy Matron. While her children were growing up she enjoyed helping with the Boy Scouts and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a member of the Episcopal church and supported it's ministries all her life. Sally was an avid bowler all her life, with a 500 series in 1988-89 in West Branch and a 600 series several years later as a Senior. In the community of St. Helen she was a member of the Richfield Township Radio Watch and the Snowpackers Snowmobile Club. She is survived by her husband Len of three years; daughter, Donna (Gary) Pettyjohn of Grayling; son, Tom (Connie) Swenson of Hazel Park; grandchildren; Joe (fiancé Lindsey Bryan) Hughes, Ann (Matt) Buehler, Chuck Hughes, Beth Swenson, Becky Swenson, Sarah Swenson, Debbie (fiancé Dave Coffer) Swenson, Gary (Rita) Pettyjohn, Beth (Jon) Gilkerson, and Allison (Chad) Callahan. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bob and Don. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church, Grayling. Interment will be at 10:00am on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
