Ronald Richard Hardy, 84, of Grayling, MI, succumbed to Parkinson’s disease in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family and deer on 12/25/2019. He was born to parents Robert James and Lucille (Girard) Hardy, on 09/01/1935 in Escanaba, MI. He spent most of his working career in Flint and later retired in Grayling.
Ronald is survived by his loving friend of eighteen years, Betty Gulick, his daughter Tina Hardy-Mullins, son Ricky (Kim) Hardy, daughter Sherri (Ken) Swickard, his sisters Sheryl Lynn Hardy Fortin, Judy Hardy Royer, and 8 grandchildren.
Ronald preceded in death by both parents, (2) brothers Robert and Donald Hardy, (3) sisters Roberta ( Bobby Lou) Jacques, Betty May Hardy, and Delores (Dee Dee) McDonough, previous wife of 29 years and the mother of his children, Leah Maxine Hardy, and son, Randall Hardy.
He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1954. Enlisted in the US Army in 1958 – 1964.
Ronald worked as an inspector at GM Truck & Bus and retired after 36 years.
Ron had a special talent working with his hands. He made beautiful lighted wood clocks using a scroll saw, wood deer pictures, and amazing puzzles which he also framed in wood. He had a talent for building homes and garages too.
A special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Michigan for their support and care during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
The family has entrusted Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home with the cremation arrangements. A military service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Oakland County, Michigan in the spring 2020.
