Ronald Owen Baker, 68, of Grayling passed away April 21, 2009, following a long illness. Baker was born Dec. 5, 1940, in Wheatland, Penn. to James Pearson Baker and Eleanor Elizabeth (Loonam) Baker. Baker served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1961, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Sheppard AFB, Tex., and Selfridge AFB. He settled in Michigan following his honorable discharge from the service. He was employed for many years as a sales representative, and as an independent business owner. Baker was a member of the American Legion Post 106, Grayling, and served as post commander. Baker reveled in life on Lake Margarethe, and the company of his friends and his family. He was a tinkerer who enjoyed building toys and games for his children and grandchildren. He was a constant source of fix-it-yourself advice for his neighbors. He was especially proud of the success of all his children. Baker is survived by his wife, Judith Baker; his children Ron (Barb) of McKinney, Tex., Jim (Kristy) of Plano, Tex., Patti Tremblay (Rick Pluta) of Lansing, Michael Tremblay (Christy Michaels) of El Paso, Tex., Zac and Jessie Baker of Grayling; and his grandchildren Abbey and Lance Baker, Benjamin Baker, Caleb and Rowan Pluta, and Maizie and Cienna Tremblay.
