Robert William Vollmer

Robert W. Vollmer, 56, of Grayling passed away on Sunday Dec. 13, 2009. He was born on May 25, 1953 in Frederic, Michigan to Burrell Bruce and Gladys Marie (Giles) Vollmer. He graduated from Grayling High School in 1972. Robert married the former Catherine Marie Baker on March 9, 1973 in Grayling. He was retired from Crawford AuSable School District where he was the Transportation Supervisor and Grounds Director. Bob enjoyed working with children as a school bus driver, girls golf team coach, and as a supporter of many sports teams, especially football. Survived by his wife Catherine of 36 years. Daughters: Samantha (Lewis) Fox of Alma Marianne (James) Weathers of Sedalia, Missouri. Grandchildren: Dana Marie Weathers , Hallee and Logan MIchael Fox. Brothers: Ben (Darlene) Vollmer of Gaylord Dan Vollmer of Gaylord Don (Janis) Vollmer of Gaylord Loving nieces and nephews. Close friends of the family: Bob and Lennie Wargo, Betty Wargo and Alice Vanslyke of Grayling. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Friday Dec. 18, 2009 between 1-3pm and 4-7 pm with funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Dan Weaver officiating.
