Robert Stonehouse Thayer

Robert Stonehouse Thayer, 67, of Maple Forest Township, passed away on September 6, 2020.

He was born on February 27, 1953 in Birmingham, Michigan. His parents were Lester and Phyllis (Dunham) Thayer. Bob graduated from Michigan Tech University with a BS degree in Forestry in 1977. While at Michigan Tech Bob pledged the Phi Kappa Tau (Mu Kappa Mu) Fraternity and gained life long friends. Bob married Barbara Wade in 1983 in Wyoming, Michigan. He retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2008 after 26 years of employment. Bob enjoyed gardening and tending to his lawn, kayaking, cross country skiing, and bicycle touring.

Survived by his wife Barb of 37 years. Brother: Richard (Myra) Thayer and their children Dawn, Aaron, and Daniel. Sister in law: Sheila (Joel) Mikkelson and son Alan. Bob is also survived by his Mu Kappa Mu brothers.

A Gathering of Family and Friends to Remember Bob will be held on September 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
