Robert Clarence Beard

Robert Clarence Beard, 82, of Atlanta, MI., passed away on September 6, 2015. He was born in Onaway, Michigan on February 28, 1933, a son of the late Iva (Stauffer) and Archie Beard. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert married the former Joann Freeman on July 2, 1955 in Ferndale, Michigan. He retired from GM in 1990 and worked at Cooper Standard Automotive for 23 years. Robert loved his family and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing, and camping, country music, going to the casino, and doing crossword puzzles. Survived by his wife, Joann of 60 years. Children: Laurie (Edson) Rupp of Troy; Robert (Christine) Beard of Florida; Gordon (Connie) Beard of Grayling; and Rick (Robin) Beard of Madison Heights. Grandchildren: Matthew & Emma Rupp, Robert Beard, Meghan & Connor Beard. Brothers: Dick Beard of Georgia and Bernard Beard of Royal Oak. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Victor, Gordon and Keith; sister Joan Summers. The family will hold a private grave side service.
