Richard Lee Smith

Richard Lee Smith, 75, of Mio, MI., passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, November 24, 2014. Richard was born in Pontiac, MI on April 27, 1939, a son of the late Thelma Mae (Harris) and Oscar Victor Smith. He married Alice Bland on December 23, 1957. He retired from Hoskins Manufacturing. He enjoyed NASCAR races. Richard is survived by his wife Alice of 55 years. Children: Terrie (Rick) Lockwood of Grayling, Edward (Angela) Smith, of Fairview; Kathryn (Duane) Brusch, of Waterford; Ronald (Lisa) Smith, of Gaylord; Richard Smith, Jr., of Pontiac; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Sister: Donna (Hugh) Kirtek, of Rochester. Uncle: Robert (Doris) Harris of Oscoda and Florida. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by both parents, brother Edward O. Smith, and two infant brothers. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 between 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God in Mio with Rev. Russell Bowman officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, MI. Condolences may be sent to www.sorensonlockwood.com.
