Richard Earl Green, 78, of Lake City, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 11, 2022.
Richard had a marvelous sense of humor, which he shared with everyone he met. He worked construction most of his life and at one time owned his own construction business.
Rich loved his family and enjoyed visits; always looking forward to Thanksgiving and Easter family dinners; and looked forward each year for the last blast celebration on Labor Day weekend.
Rich loved animals, especially cats; especially Nick. He fed birds. In mid-winter it was common to have 100 or more doves coming to feed on the ground...
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and always thought Michigan had so much to offer, there was no need to travel far;(whether going to the U.P. to prospect for silver or walking to waterfalls). He enjoyed being home, mowing the grass and mulching leaves; and tinkering in his Man Cave.
He liked plain cake doughnuts, chicken & dumplings, made the best chili, and every evening at 8:20 enjoyed an ice cream cone.
Rich had an appreciation for antiques and ran an antique shop for many years. He enjoyed auctions, garage sales and was always looking for a bargain. (He found many).
Rich had a passion for clocks (antique - not battery). Wall clocks, shelf clocks, grandfather, pocket & wrist watched. He worked on them all and enjoyed the challenge of making them run smoothly. At one time he had 70 clocks all running and chiming.
He enjoyed Jeopardy, British comedies, a good mystery and cartoons. He always said you can learn a lot about life thru cartoons. He was an avid reader and enjoyed short stories.
Rich knew about life and was always ready with an opinion on just about any topic... This all brings me back to his sense of humor and love of nature and life itself. Rich always said, "you have to laugh... That's what will get you thru the hard times."
Rest in peace, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Teacher, Friend and my most special Love & Companion...
Until we meet again...
Rich is survived by his wife Carlotta Green; children Raquel (Robert) Paulus and Ryanne Ockert; step-children Brenda (Thomas) Brandon, Scott (Adrianne) Rochette, Aimee (Patrick) Mastej and Lynne (Brian) Kelley; 5 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Myrna (Roger) Horton and Jerry (Janice) Green; siblings-in-law Barbara (Dale) Nielson, Collin Jurkovich, Gary Jurkovich, Mark (Johanna) Jurkovich and Michael (Marey) Jurkovich.
