Phyllis Tackett

Phyllis Tackett (88) of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully at home April 23, 2019 surrounded by members of the family she held so dear. Phyllis is survived by her children, Stephanie (Roy) Rose of Port Charlotte, FL, Deborah (Rick Wright) Tackett of Harrison, MI, Gregory (Colleen) Tackett of Warren, MI, Michael (Beverly) Tackett of Waterford, MI, Faye Tackett of Grayling, MI, and Stacey Tackett of Grayling, MI; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marcella Hamilton of Dayton, OH and Patricia Shamlin of Huntsville, AL; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Tackett; daughter, Janet Crawford; and son-in-law, Bruce Crawford. Phyllis's life revolved around her grandchildren whom she loved and cared for deeply. She enjoyed the outdoors and the conservation of forestry, parks, and wildlife. She was a patron donation giver to many organizations such as the Arbor Day Foundation, Special Olympics, Fraternal Order of Police, Michigan Sheriff Association, Paralyzed Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project, and the Audubon Society. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star. She lived by her traditional southern values and was a born again Christian. She will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her. Visitation will be Monday, April 29, 2019, 10-2 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. with Donn Broeker officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family has asked donations be made in Stacey Tackett's name to the Special Olympics.
