Pauline Rosalie Dawson, 89, of Grayling, passed away on Monday February 7, 2011. Pauline was born on April 25, 1921 in Gratiot County, Michigan to Joseph and Iva (Rosenberg) Merrill. Pauline moved to grayling around 1939 from St. Louis. She was employed at Dawson's. She then met Devere Dawson and they were married on Oct 6, 1942. There was a fire at Dawsons in January of 1957 and they rebuilt to open in November of that same year. They were involved in working at or running Dawsons for 55 years until retirement in 1993. Pauline volunteered at Crawford County Historical Museum and also at the school where she helped students learn to read. Survived by her son Steven and his wife Gayle of Lake City. Granddaughter Sara, husband Alan Robertson, and great grandson Jack Steven Robertson of Walled Lake. Also survived by brother in law John Key and sister in law Pat Dawson. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Devere, grandson John Paul Dawson, 2 brothers and one sister.
