Norman Harold Wood

Norman Harold Wood, 70, of Waters passed away on Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at his home in the presence of his family. Norm was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 5, 1938, the son of the late Harold William and Helen (Damer) Wood. He married Marcia Stauffer on June 16, 1979 in Houghton Lake, MI. He was a loving husband, father, brother and great friend. Norm was a meat cutter by trade and had several years of sales management throughout the Midwest. He and his wife Marcia owned and operated North Woods Archery of Waters between the years of 1994 and 2006. He was a key founder of the North Woods Archery Club in Grayling and a highly respected bow hunter, the 1999 Michigan State Champion of IBO, had multiple top placements in Michigan State Championships and world competitions. Norm was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting with his brother Mike and friend Tom throughout the U.S. and Canada. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and riding motorcycles, and camping with his family. Survived by his wife Marcia of Waters Daughters: Kimberly (Mark) Nyman of Mesick. Robin (Aaron) Classens of Eagle. Lisa (Brian) Getty of Manton. Son: Gregory Stauffer of Frederic. Grandchildren: Erika Kendziorski, Jason Nyman, Alecia (Darin) Aronson, Alaina Nyman, Kyle Getty, Jordan Stauffer, Kasey Getty, MacKenzie Classens, Hannah Stauffer, Logan Classens 5 Great-grandchildren Sisters: Janet Parker, Marie (Lee) Venton Brothers: Robert (Georgia) Wood Mike (Deb) Wood Uncle: Otto (Barb) Damer Several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, and an infant brother. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling on Thursday April 30, 2009 between 6-8 p.m.and Memorial Service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home, Grayling, MI, at 11:00 am on Friday, May 1st, 2009.
