Niels-Alf Svensen

Niels-Alf Svensen, 88, of Gaylord, MI passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Niels was born in Oslo, Norway on September 19, 1926 to Alf-Kaare and Mona Svensen. He worked as a naval engineer for many years. Niels was a very family oriented man. He loved to spend time with children and went on fun family trips. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, boating and sailing, singing, gardening, building things and working with his hands, and he loved dogs. He also coached soccer, was a boy scout troop leader, and bread Labrador retrievers. He was a very interesting man and a great father. Survived by children, Karen (David) Ross, David (Keri) Svensen, and Heidi Vogel; grandchildren, Melanie, Gretchen, Heather, Andrea, Vanessa, Sean, and Ryan; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Annelise Lea. Niels' family will be holding a memorial gathering for him at a later date.
