Neil Franklin Longworth of Lovells passed away suddenly on August 1, 2018. He was born in Beardsley, Minnesota to George and Marian (Struss) Longworth on September 27, 1940. On December 27, 1965, Neil married Linda Duncan and the couple had two daughters, Carol and Cari. Following his divorce, Neil married Shirley (Proulx) Evon on August 1, 1981 and added two more daughters, Arlene and Dee Dee to his family. Neil was an educator by trade. He earned his bachelors degree from Moorhead State University and his masters from Eastern Michigan University. His teaching career spanned 36 years, with 22 of those years being at Grayling High School. Many of his industrial education students fondly remember Mr. Longworth saying, "sit down, shut up and draw." In his spare time, Neil loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, bike riding and walking in the woods with his many beloved hunting dogs. He was an active member of the Grayling Sportsman Club for all the years he lived in Grayling. And on Sundays, he rarely missed watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings. Neil is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clifford and Lauren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm with Celebration of Neil's Life beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. He leaves behind Shirley, his wife of 37 years, daughters Carol (Todd) Bennett, Cari (Ralph) Oppermann, Arlene (Kevin) Dietrich, Denise (John) Van Boemel, sister Joyce (John) Boase, grandchildren: Amanda & Ryan, Megan & Nicole, Conor & Kelsey, Alex & Kyle, many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
