Murray Bindschatel

Murray Elgin Bindschatel, 81, of Maple Forest Township, MI passed away Thursday November 1, 2012 at his home. Murray was born in Saginaw, MI on March 7, 1931, a son of the late Marion (Burr) and George Bindschatel. Murray joined the navy in January of 1951. He traveled all over the world during his time of service before being discharged in 1954. Murray then went to the tank plant and worked for 4-5 years there. He then worked for Bill Carr Signs for several years. He then went out on his own in the sign business working with his brother Ken off and on. Murray moved to the North and started Murray's signs. Murray has worked for nearly 60 years in the sign business. Murray is survived by Yvonne (Millikin) Bindschatel, his companion of 24 years; his daughter Sheri (Butch) Weaver of Frederic; son Marty Bindschatel of Las Vegas; step-children Chris Vance, Linda Schell, Dan Jerolds, Tanya Boyd; Yvonnes children Kim (Brian) Pratt, Karen (Chuck) Huber, Monte G. Malonen Sr., Kay Babbitt (John Woolford), Dale (Jennifer) Bindschatel; step-children Dee (Paul) VaNuck, Jack (Barbie) Bindschatel, Scott (Nikki) Bindschatel; and Sister-in-law Nancy Bindschatel. He is also survived my many Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Murray is pre-deceased by daughters Tammy Groening and Bobbi Norberry; both parents George and Marion; brothers Ken, Warren, Lowell, Gladwin, and Jack; and sister Sally Neil. Visitation will take place on Saturday November 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, MI. Services will take place on Sunday November 4, 2012 at 9 am at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic following the service.
