Murray Wayne Adams, 79, of Grayling passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 in Traverse City. Murray was born on September 4, 1938 to Stewart and Pearl (Garbutt) Adams in Detroit, MI. He served 9 years in the Navy and 22 years in the Army before retiring. He was a longtime gunsmith for the Grayling area, enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and also enjoyed touring Michigan's lighthouses and historical sites. And he loved dogs, especially Sam and Hershey. Murray is survived by his children, Kelly (Nick) Vaughn and Casey (Marilyn) Hollier; grandchild, Brian (Mariah) Adams; and great grandchild, Evelyn Adams. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and two brothers, Stewart and Harold. Visitation will take place Friday, April 6, 2018 from 11-2 PM at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2 PM. Burial with military honors will take place in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Murray's family has asked donations be made to the American Heart Association.
