Melvin Eugene Fishell, 78, of Grayling passed away on Friday, August 24th, 2007. He was born in Williamston, Michigan on August 5, 1929, the son of the late Carroll M. and Maude (Grindling) Fishell. He served in the U.S. Army . Melvin married Ann Keeler on October 15, 1955 in Roscommon, Michigan. He was a retired corrections officer for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections. He was a devoted member and deacon of Grayling Baptist Church. Melvin was known for his being kind hearted, friendly, and caring. He generously gave of his time to the Commission on Aging by delivering meals on wheels, and holding Bible Studies at the Senior Center and Camp Lehman. In earlier years he umpired Little League Baseball and enjoyed square dancing. He is survived by his wife Ann of 51 years. Daughter: Victoria Sue (John) Townsend-Kusneris of Grayling,MI. Son(s): James Melvin Fishell of Arkansas., Donald Mark Fishell of Arkansas. Daughter-in-law: Sharon Ann Fishell of Roscommon, MI He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Brothers: Daryl (Christine) Fishell, Stanley (Sally) Fishell, and Larry (Georgia) Fishell, all of Roscommon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathryn Ann Miller, and a son Thomas Carroll Fishell. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 26, 2007 between 6-9 p.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at Grayling Baptist Church starting at 11:00 a.m. On Monday Aug. 27, 2007. Funeral Service will be held at Grayling Baptist Church, Grayling, MI, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27th, with Pastor Jon Scott officiating. Interment will be at Rock Cemetery in South Branch Township, MI. In lieu of flowers, family request that memorial contributions may be made to Grayling Baptist Church or to the family.
