Mary June Stearns (Wicker)

Mary June Stearns, 84, of Grayling, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Mercy Manor. Mary was born May 14, 1926 in West Frankfort, IL to Robert and Ethelyn Wicker. She moved to Pontiac, MI with her family where she lived for many years. In 1971 Mary moved to Grayling where she had made her home since. She was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed time spent with her family, and her occasional trips to area casinos. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Dwight L. Dawson Sr.; her brother "Bo" Wicker; a son Vernon Dean Dawson; and her husband of 30 years, James Lewis Stearns. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Dwight and Diana Dawson Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Dennis Palmer; step-daughters Dorthea (Hallis) Carlson and Diana Tolbert. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In accordance with Mary's wishes cremation taken place and private graveside services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice. Arrangements were handled by the Sorenson-lockwood Funeral Home Inc.
