Mary Essmaker, 46, passed away on February 21, 2017. Mary is survived by her parents, Bill and Anne Essmaker; her biological mother, Pat Nixon; her sister, Lora (Ken) Stoddard; brothers, John Southworth, Bill (Kelly) Essmaker, Erik (Laura) Essmaker, Terry Essmaker; sister, Rebecca Essmaker. She is also survived by nieces, Brittany (Nick) Terry, Breanna Smith, Krista Essmaker; nephews, Brandon Smith, Niklaus Essmaker, and Baden Essmaker; aunts and uncles John (Maritza) Essmaker, Kathleen (Charles) Hubbard, Terry (Tim) Curtis, Patricia (Michael) Faile; cousins, Carrie Wiseley, Andrew Wiseley, Esmeralda Essmaker-McLenithan, Juana Conley, Bill Faile, Patty (Ron) Corlew, Michael Faile, Elizabeth (Bill) Humiston; several great nieces and nephews; special friend, Dave Costelo. Many know Mary by her courageous battle with schizophrenia, and special thanks go to the ACT team from the Northern Lakes Community Mental Health agency, the Grace Center, Alcoholics Anonymous and their dedicated support system, the Northeast Michigan DeColores Ministry, and her many friends who have supported her throughout her life. Mary was loved by many people and recognized for her continued determination to live her life with love and simplicity. She, simply put, did her best. Mary loved flowers, cats, and nature. She loved our great and sovereign Lord, and that will continue to be a wonderful and lasting comfort to her family and friends. In remembrance of Mary, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northeast Michigan DeColores Ministry, a non-denominational Christian ministry, P.O. Box 445, Grayling, MI 49738. A celebration of life Memorial Service will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church in Grayling on Saturday, March 4, at 11:00.
