Marilyn Joyce Townley

Marilyn Joyce Townley, 81, of Grayling went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family at home, August 20, 2019. She was born May 9, 1938 in Bad Axe, MI to Joshua and Dorothy (Tucker) Tetreau.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Philip Townley; children, Paula (Jerry) Scheer, Patti (Brian) Barnett and Rick (Lynette) Townley; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Tetreau, Mary Lou Steiner and Paul Tetreau; and sister-in-law, Beth MacDonald. She is preceded in death by both of her parents.

Marilyn loved people. She never met a stranger. She always greeted everyone with a smile and a hug. She enjoyed sending cards to people and was known to be encouraging, especially through her ministry. For 34 years, Marilyn and her husband Philip would spend winters in Maranatha Baptist Retirement Village in Florida. Not a day has passed since Phil retired that they were not together.

Visitation is Friday, August 23, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling, MI, 12-2 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 2 p.m with Pastor Phil Niederer and Dr. Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Marilyn.
