Mardean E. Hess, age 76, of Roscommon, MI, passed away at the Munson Healthcare - Grayling Hospital on December 31, 2024. 

Mardean was born August 26, 1948, to Deyo Dean and Marjorie Bertha (Romine) Hess, Mardean lived a life full of dedication, kindness, and love for her family and community.

She is survived by her brother, Richard B. (Vena Wade) Hess of Jackson, MI; sister, Barbara Jean Hess of Hillsdale, MI; nephews, Richard E. (Leslie) Hess, Robert R. Hess, and Randy D. Hess; niece, Whitney A. (Nicholas) Smith; and great-nephew, John Smith. Mardean was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Deyo Hess, and her sister, Carol Ann Hess.

Mardean devoted over 25 years of service to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, leaving a lasting impact through her dedication and service. Mardean was also a lifetime member of the Grayling Moose Lodge, she served with unwavering dedication in various leadership roles, including Senior Regent, Junior Graduate Regent, Guide, PEP Chairman, Recorder, Audit Committee Chairman, Secretary also serving locally as Lodge President, Chaplain, Treasurer, and Junior Past President. Her contributions to the Lodge and it's members was immeasurable.

A true lover of adventurous road trips, Mardean found joy in exploring and creating cherished memories with friends and loved ones. Most notably she will be remembered for her culinary talents especially her famous dump cakes and special Chex Mix, which brought smiles to family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Grayling Moose Lodge. Mardean’s cremated remains will be interred at Village Cemetery in Roscommon, MI, in the spring of 2025.

Condolences may be shared with her family online at www.sorensonlockwood.com. In lieu of arrangements donations may be made to the Grayling Moose Lodge Annual Kids Christmas Party, an event that was near and dear to Mardean's Heart. Mardean’s warmth, dedication, and love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.
