Lloyd Berry Jr., born May 31, 1928, went to his "happy hunting grounds" suddenly January 19, 2008 in Grayling, Michigan. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ethel (Sadler) Berry and his brothers-in-law Donald Legg, Hazen Hatfield, and Albert Kesteloot. He is survived by his companion and friend, Helen Nolan; his four children Susan (Mike) Thibodeau, MaryLou (Larry) Erickson, Nancy (Richard) Knoth, Lloyd "Skip" (Annie) Berry and his stepson's Brad and Jon Cline. Lloyd was the proud grandparent of William, Jason, Jennifer, Julie, Elisabeth, Charles Jr., Christina, Melissa, Angela, Jonathan A., Lloyd, Jonathan R., and Rachel along with 22 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and many extended family & friends. Lloyd retired from General Motors Pontiac Division where he was employed as a skilled trades assembly layout technician, working on new model cars and brake systems. Lloyd was also a longtime member of UAW Local 653. Prior to his employment with GM, Lloyd owned and operated the Pontiac Transmission Shop in Waterford, Michigan. Lloyd "Fish Hook" Berry was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting locally and in the great north. Bass, Pike, walleye, deer, bear and moose were always on the menu or in Lloyd's freezer. In addition to his outdoor activities, Lloyd was a well known participant in the northern Michigan Car Shows, where his Buick's consistently received awards. Lloyd (Chief's) greatest accomplishment was his service in the United States Marines from 1947 until 1950 when he was honorably discharged. He will be sadly missed by all, P.S., Good Luck Always, Love, Your Children. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home of Grayling, Michigan on Tuesday January 22, 2008 between 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Barnett officiating.
