Leslie W. Birk

Leslie W. Birk, Jr., 80, of Grayling, passed away on October 31, 2018. He was born in Baraga, Michigan to the late Faye (Godmere) and Leslie W. Birk, Sr. He graduated from Garden City High School. Leslie married Theresa Kalstad on May 14, 1983 in Grayling. Leslie worked in management for Armada Corporation. After retiring from corporate life, he worked for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Leslie loved his family. Leslie's hobbies included fishing and gardening with his green thumb. His favorite sports teams were the Wolverines, Red Wings, Tigers, and the Lions. Survived by his wife Theresa of 35 years. Children: Terrie Jo (Tom) Powers of Indian River; Steven (Sherry) Birk of Gaylord; Robert (Felichia) Kalstad, Jr. of Fowlerville. Grandchildren: Adam, Matthew, Ryan, and Jeffrey Birk and 6 great grandchildren. Mother of Leslie's children: Sandra Mason of Indian River. Sisters: Carolyn Durant of Cadillac; Bonnie Hinson of Virginia; Judy Fullingham of Texas and his brother, Randy Birk of Livonia. Preceded in death by his son Douglas Birk, his parents, and sisters Billie Lou and Carmen. Memorial service for Leslie will be held on November 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
