Lawrence William "BILL" Nielson

Lawrence William "BILL" Nielson, 47, of Grayling, MI passed away on Saturday June 23, 2012. Lawrence was born in Grayling, on May 24, 1965, a son of the late Bruce Joseph and Helen Marie (Balch) Nielson. Bill graduated from Grayling High School in 1983. He loved children and volunteered at schools to help with the children. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid CUBS fan (Tigers and Lions were OK too). Bill was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served his church in many roles. He was a member of St. Mary's Knights of Columbus, previously served as the Grand Knight. Bill was president of the Crawford County Historical Society. He also served on the City of Grayling Planning Commission. Survived by his mother, Helen Nielson. Brothers: Mike (Debbie) Nielson of Wayne, MI Tim (Renee) Nielson of Alba, MI David (Rhonda) Nielson of Grayling Terry (Brenda) Nielson of Grayling 8 nephews and 8 nieces 1 great niece. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Tuesday June 26, 2012 between 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grayling, MI, with Rev. Jim Doherty officiating. There will be visitation before the mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. Family request that in lieu of flowers, donations to family would be appreciated.
