Laurence D. Smith

Laurence D. Smith, 78, of Grayling passed away on Tuesday January 11, 2011. Laurence was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 6, 1932, the son of the late James Monroe and Amy Clarabelle (Holmes) Smith. He served in the US Army as a LTC during the Vietnam War. He married the former Marva Jean Bigelow on December 21, 1955. They were married for 51 years before she preceded him in death in 2007. Laurence is survived by Daughter: Virginia (Kim) Burnham of Eagle, MI. Son: Larry Smith of Fowler, MI. 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Laurence was preceded in death by his daughter Renee DeWaters in 2003. There will be no public services. He will be interred in Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors in a private family ceremony.
