Larry Lee Billinghurst passed away at home under the loving care of his family with the assistance of Munson Hospice of Grayling. Larry was sick for quite some time and fought a courageous and powerful battle against cancer. He never gave up and he never complained. He was lifted up out of the pain and into the loving arms of the Lord on July 3, 2015. Larry was born in Jackson, Michigan. In 1992 he met Nancy (Pixie) Livermore who he eventually married in 1996. They were confirmed life partners and kindred spirits and enjoyed all life had to offer together. Their goal was to see all 50 states together and they almost achieved that goal with only Alaska yet to be seen. He loved road trips and was a great navigator. They both preferred byways rather than the highways. He was extremely proud of his military service. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He was a Sergeant in the Army's 18th Airborne Corps. He was also a skydiver and small plane pilot. He retired from Clark Equipment Company. He was an extremely intelligent man who could build, fix, or even create whatever he needed to complete a project. He enjoyed his family and loved them unconditionally. He was a simple man who enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, maintaining his property, gardening, and anything related to the great outdoors. In later years, Larry enjoyed what he called "his little piece of heaven." He lived in the last house on a dead end road surrounded by state land and his five acres the he loved to maintain. Looking out the window was always interesting as he never knew what animal might greet him! He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dorothy and William Lueck, his father Donald Early Billinghurst XII, his mother Barbara Anne Pierce, and an older brother that died as an infant. He is survived by his wife Nancy (Pixie Livermore), son Donald (Shelly) Billinghurst, granddaughter Brittney, grandson Lucas, several great grandchildren, sister Polly (Rick) Scott, niece Bonnie (Loren) Miller, nephew Bill (Kate) Shepard, and two grand nieces. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Jackson and per his request no public service will be held. Condolences may be sent to www.sorensonlockwood.com. Arrangements by Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home of Grayling.
