Joan Eva Rasmussen
"Grandma Bubbles"
1.15.1932 - 12.25.2024
Joan was the 4th of 12 children born to Willard and Helen (SanCartier) Harwood on January 15, 1932 in Grayling, Michigan. Her life with husband, John Rasmussen, began on February 23, 1952. Together, they raised 4 children: Joy, John II, Joel and Jason. Joan loved to work, spending nearly 30 years at The Bear Archery and then around 20 years at Laurine's Department Store. She also spent a number of years as a key part of the American Legion Auxillary Post 106.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Paul, Bob and Pat, sisters: Jackie, Jeri, and Jill, sisters-in-law: Kay and Margie, and very best friend: Patty Legg.
Small but mighty, Joan had a personality that made her unforgettable. You probably chatted with her at some point in your life, as she could (and loved to) talk to anyone! She spoke her mind and gave much advice, whether you asked for it or not! You could find her almost always reading a book, having a cup of coffee or tea and indulging her sweet tooth. In addition, she loved playing cards with friends, going to the casino with her sisters, traveling with family, attending St. Mary's Catholic Church, watching her 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren grow, and so much more. One of Joan's biggest loves in life was Christmas - witnessing, giving, and being a part of the joy that the season brings. The Lord brought her Home as a final gift, and in that she would want everyone to rejoice.
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-bye." - Love, Grandma Bubbles
