Jo An L. Phillips (Kernstein)

Jo An L. Phillips, 71, of Grayling, passed away on Saturday October 23, 2010. Jo An was born in Detroit, MI on March 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Oscar B. and Lee Ora (Smith) Kerstein. She married Gerald F. Phillips on September 27,1958 at Nativity Lutheran Church in Detroit. Jo An and her husband Gerald moved to the Grayling area in 1996 from Dearborn Heights. She was a lifetime member of Dearborn Heights Jaycees. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She enjoyed golfing, previously coordinated the Couples League at Grayling Country Club, and enjoyed going to the casino. Jo An is survived by her husband Gerald of 52 years. Daughters: Jacey (Jim) Berecek of Dayton, OH. Jinae Schmittling of Dearborn, MI. Son: Geff (Nancy) Phillips of Plymouth, MI. Grandchildren: Jared & Jeni Berecek; Garret & Kia Schmittling; Kylee, Samuel, & Jacob Phillips. Brother: Bernard (Mary) Kerstein of Lakeland, MI. Preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judith. Memorial Service will be held at Life Church 7001 N.
