James LeRoy Sorenson

James LeRoy Sorenson, 68, of Lovells Twp. passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2011. James was born in Grayling, MI on March 7, 1943, the son of the late Harry and Edris (Campbell) Sorenson. He served for 4 years in the US Marines. He worked at Camp Grayling as an Ammunition Supply Officer from 1972 through retirement in 2002. He was the widower of Mickey Lou (Doremire) Sorenson. They were married on June 25, 1966 in Grayling. Mickey preceded him in death on December 29, 2000. Jim enjoyed traveling, wood working and was an avid fly fisherman. He purchased Hartmans Fly Shop in Lovells in 2003. He was a member of the Grayling Masonic Lodge. Survived by Daughter: Dawn Howell of Grayling, MI. Sons: Tom Sorenson of Grayling, MI. Jim Jr. (Sonja) Sorenson of Ohio. Terry (Erin) Sorenson of Chesterfield, MI. Grandchildren - Sara Cox, BJ & Jessica Sorenson, Matthew & Megan Sorenson, Brooke and Adam Kohn, Terry, Ashley & Jacob Sorenson. Great Grandchildren - Jordan, Thomas and Kendra. There will also be visitation on Saturday June 25, 2011 between 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral Service will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Pastor David Blake officiating.
