James W. Hatfield, 77, of Grayling passed away on Friday, September 14th, 2007. He was born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan on October 3, 1929, the son of the late Harold James and Gertrude O. (Mathias) Hatfield. He served in the US Marines and also sailed the Great Lakes ore freighters with the Coast Guard. Jim worked for Bear Archery for 42 years. He married the former Marie H. Becker on Sept. 23, 1950 at Roscommon, Michigan. They would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this month. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved hunting and fishing. Survived by his wife Marie. Daughter: Linda M (Jim) Alexander of Kalkaska, MI. Son: James A (Nancy) Hatfield of Grayling, MI. Grandchildren: Heather, Travis, and Dylan. Step grandchildren: Barb, Sarah, and Daniel. Step great grandchildren: Austin, Levi, Juan, Caleb, Erika, Nate, Dakota, Mave, Ema Brothers: Harold, Howard (Louise), Warren (Helen), and Carl (Rose) Hatfield of Grayling, Gary Hatfield of South Boardman Sisters in law; Barbara Hatfield of Florida and Mary Hatfield of Grayling. Preceded in death by his brothers Hazen and Roger Hatfield, and an infant sister Ruth Elizabeth Hatfield. Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Hope Evangelical Lutheran of Grayling, MI, on Monday, September 17th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steven Thiel officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 106 and Camp Grayling. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice Grayling, MI.
