James H Brown, 87, of Grayling a true American war hero has received his final orders to report to the Marine barracks at Heavens gate on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009. James was born in Detroit, MI on July 9, 1922, the son of the late Hugh and Edith (Hassard) Brown. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. James married the former Gladys Thomas on June 5, 1948 in Napolean Ohio He retired in 1973 from the City of Detroit Police Department where he was a employed as a Sergeant. James and Gladys moved to Lovells to build their dream home near KP Lake upon retirement. Survived by Daughter: Sherri (Charlie) Cadeau of Lovells. Son: Dan (Sharon) Brown of Gaylord. Grandchildren: Kristie (Jordan) Ault, Carrie Cadeau (Travis Fagan), C.J. (Holly) Grendel, Eric Grendel, Regan (Dave) Bebble, and Rachel Grendel. James was preceded in death by his son Dale. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at American Legion Post 106 on Saturday October 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Lovells Township Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Manor 1100 E.
