Jack D. Best, 82, of Grayling, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at home. He was born on July 17, 1925 in Jackson, MI to Luster F. and M. Gail (Davidson) Best. Jack graduated from high school in Jackson and attended Jackson Community College. After serving in the U.S. Army, Jack joined the Michigan State Police. He served in several posts before retiring and then worked for several years as an inverstigator for the Michigan Secretary of State. Jack was a fun loving, friendly man who enjoyed his many Grayling area friends. He was a member of the Crawford County Sportsmans Club, and was a longtime area Constable. Surviving is a daughter, Christine (David) Lee of Navarre, FL; grandchildren, Briana and India Best of Navarre, FL and cousins, J. David (Marilyn) Stein of Bay City, Morris (Marilyn) Stein of Phoenix, AZ and Audrey (Ralph) Hinderleider of Alma. He is also survived by his longtime good friend, Dick Kammer of Grayling. Memorial service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Saturday May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will also be accorded at this memorial service.
