Grace Elaine Nichols, 78, of Grayling, MI, passed away in Oxford surrounded by her family on August 23, 2015. Grace was born in Lapeer, on November 2, 1936, a daughter of Helen (Keldie) and James Barber. She married Carl Wallace Nichols on April 18, 1954 in Columbiaville, MI. Carl preceded her in death in 2014 after 60 years of marriage. Grace's greatest joy was helping to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, and exploring antiques. Grace was a member of Grayling Baptist Church where she was a willing servant for whatever was needed. She enjoyed caring for children in the nursery, helping with Vacation Bible School, and helping in the kitchen. Survived by her children: Carl (Diane) Nichols, Jr. of Grayling, Steven (Jaye) Nichols of Grayling, Penny (Larry) Ford of Oxford, Russel of Grayling, and Ronald (Terri) of Irons. 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Step mother: Iva Barber of Columbiaville. Sisters: Deanna (Dave) Secord, Joanie (Dan) Burd, Mary Jane (Phil) Hittle, Debbie (Bob) Harmon. Brother: Rodney Barber. Preceded in death by her brother, James Barber, Jr. and sister Nina Crosson.
