Grayling, MI George Watson George Watson, 83, of Grayling passed away on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009. George was born in Detroit, MI on January 11, 1926, the son of the late Roy and Anna (Beilewa) Watson. He served in the U.S. Navy. George married the former Virginia K Anderson on November 27, 1946 in East Detroit, Michigan George moved to the Grayling area 30 years ago, coming from Warren. He owned and operated Watson Stump Grinding in the Grayling area, He was also a poet and had a collection of his poems published called "Candy for the Mind", He was a pilot and built his own Thorpe T-18 Airplane, was a gifted self taught quilter and was published in American Quilters Magazine, Owned and operated an antique car restoration business called Square D Collision located in Detroit , and an oil painter since 1960, George is survived by his wife Virginia of 62 years Daughters: Nora (Jim) Twork of Onaway. Susan (Thomas) Franquist of Harrisville, Michigan Sandra Simmons of Seabrook, TX. Son:George Roy (Dorothy) Watson of Chesterfield Twp. 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren Brothers: Harold (Jeanne) Watson of Lebec, CA., Norbert Watson of Victorville, CA., Walter (Donna) Watson of Texarkana, AR., Roy (Carrie) Watson of Victorville, CA., Frank (Doris) Watson of St. Clair Shores, MI. George was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, and a son named David Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Saturday March 14, 2009 between 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a Memorial service beginning at 12 noon, Officiating Elder Ann Doty. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their activity department.
