Frank Schoen, 45, of Grayling died peacefully on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008 following a log illness. Frank was born in Mt. Clemens, MI, Michigan on February 5, 1963, the son of the late Lawrence and Dolores (Miller) Schoen. Frank knew everyone, and if he didn't, he "missed you anyways". He was the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. Franks love for music and people earned him the opportunity of making new friends all over Michigan No matter what shape or size your beard was (with the exception of Santa Claus) you were told to shave. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3465 since 1984 where he was awarded "The Ambassador of Love Award" in 2003. Upon moving to northern Michigan in 1971, he attended COOR Intermediate School District in Roscommon. After graduation he worked at the ROOC Workshop until his recent illness. Through the organizations he also enjoyed bowling, basketball, softball, skiing, canoeing, bocce ball and the Special Olympics. Frank had accumulated numerous awards and medals for the softball throw, shot put, bowling and running. His basketball team made it to the state finals and were 7 points shy of winning the state title for his division. Survived by: Brothers: John Schoen of Troy, MI Charles L. (Julie) Schoen of Grayling, MI Stepbrother John (Mary) Shutt of Holt, MI Sisters: Patricia Holland of Franklin, TN Susan K Ferriss of Clinton Twp., MI Laurie C. Schaum of Marshall, MI Former sister-in-law and friend Kathleen A. Schoen of Mt Clemens, M 9 nieces, 6 nephews, 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Frank was preceded in death by his father Lawrence S. Schoen, mother Dolores A. Schoen, step mother Cymbria (SAM) Schoen, and brother Thomas J. Schoen. Visitation will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on Wednesday August 6, 2008 between 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Funeral service will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. William Cargo and Sister Jean Umlor, RSM officiating. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Friday August 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schoen family.
