Frances Jurkovich died in Grayling, Michigan on Saturday, January 15, 2011 with her daughter by her side. She had proudly been living on her own until heart complications caused her hospitalization on January 5th. Born in Glidden, Wisconsin on September 4, 1921 to Martin and Annie Kempf she had lived in Michigan since 1939. She married Thomas Jurkovich in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1980. Also preceding are one grandson, four sisters, and one brother. Survived by six children: Collin (Joyce) Jurkovich, Gary (Ellen) Jurkovich, Carlotta (Richard) Green, Mark (Johanna) Jurkovich, Barbara (Dale) Nielson, and Michael (Margine) Jurkovich. She loved 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and had one great great granddaughter. Frances enjoyed sewing, crafting and spending time with her children. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. Frances volunteered on the annual Christmas Bazaar and was an active member on the prayer line for many years. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Monday January 17, 2011 between 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church. Internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions should be directed to the building fund for St. Mary's Church in her honor.
