Floyd Arthur Gagnon

January 21, 1956 — March 14, 2025

Lovells

Floyd Arthur Gagnon, 69, of Lovells died Friday, March 14, at his home.

He was born on January 21, 1956 to Marie (Thelen) and James Gagnon in Alpena. He is survived by his son Zachary (Catherine) Gagnon; his grandchildren Jack and Léa; his sister Jane (Bill Fulwylie) Gagnon, Peter Gagnon, Nancy (Joseph) Meconi, and Mary (Brian) Goleniak, as well as four nieces (Elizabeth Meconi, Maria Meconi, Magdalen Maconi, and Zoe Goleniak).

Floyd was a graduate of Alpena High School and Central Michigan University. He worked as a shop teacher in Wisconsin and for most of his career as a saw filer in Watersmeet and Lewiston, Michigan.

As an avid outdoorsman, Floyd enjoyed riding motorcycles, in addition to bird and deer hunting, but his main passion was fishing, from the Cisco Chain to Portage Lake in the Upper Peninsula and most recently, Shupac Lake near his home. He was also a talented woodworker and fan of Notre Dame and Detroit Lions football. His grandchildren fondly remember riding in his boat on Jones Lake, camping at Wakeley Lake and building bird houses, as well as learning to tie their shoes and play checkers. He will be remembered by many for his infectious smile and hearty laugh.

A memorial party in Floyd’s memory will be held in May. If you’d like details to attend, please reach out to goodtimefloydg@gmail.com.

Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
