Elizabeth "BETH" Wieland

Elizabeth "BETH" Helen Wieland, 76, of Grayling, passed away on Tuesday, February, 23, 2016. Beth was born on March 19, 1939 in Bay City, Michigan to George and Mary (Spencer) Prevost. She married Michael Wieland on November 28, 1959 in Bay City, Michigan. Beth began her career with the State of Michigan with the Department of Agriculture. She served as the Grayling Township Clerk between 1972 to 1982. Beth was elected as Crawford County Clerk/Register of deeds between 1982 until 1995. She was then elected as a Crawford County Commissioner, where she served until 2001. Beth also served the Crawford County Board of Canvassers. She was very much involved with her family. Beth was well know as the "team mom" of the Grayling Ski Team for over 40 years. She enjoyed sewing and cake decorating. Beth also taught dance at Adult Education. Beth was very servant hearted and served in many roles as an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survived by her husband Mike of 56 years. Children: Joseph (Peggy) Wieland of Saginaw; Jean Wieland of Potterville; and Sheri (Eric) Batway of Grayling. Grandchildren: Megen and Nicole Batway; Vicki, Becky, Jacque, and Jon Wieland. Great granddaughter: Dakota Batway. Sisters: Carolyn McDonell, Marge (Ed) Martella, Kay (Dick) Corcoran Brothers: Buck, Jerry(Mary Ann), and Bill (Jan) Prevost Sisters in law: Jackie Prevost, Judy Mittig, and Tanya (Matt) Pelto. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her grandson, Travis John Batway and her brother, Tom Prevost. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Friday, February 26, 2016 between 5-8:00 p.m. Rosary Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. up until the beginning of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jerry Hunko officiating. Family suggests wearing Beth's favorite color of blue.
