Edwin John Rosa, 75, of Lovells, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at his home.
 
Edwin was born on September 16, 1948, to Victor and Rose (Decaire) Rosa in Ypsilanti, MI. Edwin worked 43 ½ years for the C&O and B&O Railroad and had been retired for the last 12 years. Edwin was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Westland, MI for 35 years volunteering his skills there; and transferred his membership to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MI, actively volunteering his talents again. He was a board member and volunteer of the Lewiston Sportsmen Club for several years.
 
Edwin will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 50+ years, Sandra Mae (Hoppe) Rosa; children, Susan (Bill) Garlick and Melanie (Brian) Colt; grandchildren; Will, David, Caroline, Hazel, Ella and Murphy; siblings, Alan (Linda) Rosa and Dennis (Barbara) Rosa; nephews Douglas (Heather) Rosa, Brian (Dianne) Rosa, and great nephews and nieces; sisters-in-law, Ruth Hoppe, Marcia (Gary) Boyd and brother-in-law, Ronnie Hoppe, cousins; Carol and Vivien Corrado, Leanne and (Bill) Hopkins, large extended Decaire family members of Clarksburg, MI in the Upper Peninsula, lifetime best friends; Walter and (Cathy) Murzin, Robert and (Ann) Naubert.  
 
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, his closest loving Uncle Mark and (Kaarina) Decaire and Uncle Leo Decaire; brothers-in-law Clarence and Walter Hoppe.
 
Edwin lived a well-rounded life and will be remembered by the many humorous jokes and stories he shared, hardy laughing, his dedication to his wife and family, compassionate caring, service to others, meticulous organization, active involvement in almost everything when needed, lifetime owner of various pet dogs, notorious favorites; peanut butter anything, pasties, made best mashed potatoes, enjoyed John Wayne and Clint Eastwood western movies. He loved stream trout fishing with his Uncles, learned salmon and lake trout fishing with partner Don Stokes, ice fishing, bird and animal hunting, golfing, cribbage, and puttering around the home.   
 
Edwin’s life impacted so many people’s lives in his own special way. One neighbor described Edwin as the caretaker and road maintenance Mayor of KP Lake.  Another resident said it best, “Edwin was a great friend and a great neighbor. He was everything a man should be. We had great conversations.”  
 
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MI. Edwin's family will start receiving guests at 10:00 AM at church. A luncheon will follow the service where there will be time for sharing of memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edwin Rosa can be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (New Digital Sign Fund) at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3805 Co. Road 612, Lewiston, MI 49756.
