Duane Frederick Furtwangler, 89, passed away January 10, 2018. Duane was born in Jackson, MI on September 13, 1928 to the late Carl and Viola Furtwangler. Duane is survived by his beloved wife Georgia Jean Earle Hall; daughter Sharon (Tom) Robison and son William (Ann) Furtwangler; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Marilyn and his son, Michael Furtwangler. Duane lived in various cities in southern Michigan until moving to Parma, MI before his ninth grade year. He and Marilyn were married in 1946 shortly after graduating from Parma High School. They raised their family in Parma and were happily married for 47 years. For years Duane built homes in the community; he later worked as a carpenter for Albion College. Duane was an amazing carpenter and his family and friends were blessed by his willingness to sharing this talent. He loved the small-town nature of Parma and always brought a smile and willingness to help others. He was a delightful storyteller and his positive nature and love for life will be missed by all who knew and loved him. One-time high-school sweethearts, Duane and Georgia were reunited in 1999. They moved to Grayling where they have enjoyed 18 years of total happiness. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26th at 1:00 at the Masonic Temple in Parma, MI.
